Admire art, find gifts and inspiration at exhibition "JAUNmarka"

The annual Art Academy of Latvia student art exhibition, showcasing more than 5000 works, has opened its doors to visitors. With the theme “find your art!”, it will take place in the auditorium of the Art Academy of Latvia (Kalpaka Blvd. 13, Riga) until January 7, 2024.

This year, “JAUNmarka” continues the tradition of creating separate guest curator exhibitions. The organisers of “JAUNmarka” strongly believe that this kind of event instils hope, provides evaluation, and boosts motivation for young artists, as well as introduces visitors to the professionals and institutions of this field.

The guest curator exhibitions are planned in three parts:

The first guest curator exhibition will be dedicated to the 5th anniversary of Art Academy of Latvia’s (AAL) Curatorial Studies master’s program, founded by AAL Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Antra Priede. The authors of this exhibition are alumni and professionally accomplished individuals – Auguste Petre, Katrīna Jaunupe, and Ineta Done.

The second exhibition will present important Latvian culture and art institutions. The Ministry of Culture will be represented by Minister Agnese Logina; Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art will be represented by its director Solvita Krese; and the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design will be represented by its director Inese Baranovska.

The third guest curator exhibition will showcase pieces selected by artists Atis Jākobsons and Gļebs Panteļejevs, as well as art critic and curator Andris Brinkmanis.

Exhibition working hours: each day from 11:00 - 20:00, on 28.12. during “Riga Last Thursdays” from 11:00–22:00. Closed on December 24, 25, 26, 31, and January 1. Visit JAUNmarka and gift yourself an inspiration and maybe even some artwork!
