Renowned Latvian artist Dons enchants his fans once again with the release of a powerful and personal ballad "Lauzto šķēpu karaļvalsts” (eng. “The Kingdom of Broken Spears”) as well as the announcement of a concert titled “Laiks” (eng. “Time”). The much-anticipated event is set to take place on August 17, 2024, at the “Daugava” stadium in Riga. Music fans can secure their tickets at ekase.lv
"Time has brought me from the dream of the first song to the concert at the stadium, which is why this will be the title of my upcoming album next year, as well as the stadium concert," says Dons. Giving fans a glimpse into the profound inspiration behind the new song, Dons explains:
"Time is the greatest and most divine gift given to us. In moments when you feel shattered and weighed down, the belief that time will heal and allow you to rise may be the only thing that gives strength. The song "Lauzto šķēpu karaļvalsts” was created while contemplating this eternal question.”
Collaborating across borders, the song was crafted in both Ireland and Latvia, with credits going to the talented team of Artūrs Šingirejs, Liam Geddes, Kate Northrop, Mikus Frišfelds, and Kate Rudzinska. The song was produced by Liam Geddes and DJ Rudd. The music video for "Lauzto šķēpu karaļvalsts” is a visual masterpiece, created by the Film Naked team, directed by Toms Harjo, with cinematography by Ritvars Bluka and production by Ināra Šumeiko.
Toms Harjo, speaking about the video, remarked, "We all wear several masks that we skillfully change every day. In this interpretation, Dons delves into the subconscious to confront them.”
Dons is one of the most experienced and beloved artists in Latvia. Dons has released eight solo albums and has received numerous music awards, including the Golden Microphone in 2023 in the categories of “Song of the Year” and “Radio Hit of the Year.” In 2021, Dons started collaborating with the music label “Universal Music Group.”
