Every moment matters – that’s why the names who carry the flag of today’s music have been carefully selected. From post punk to soft indie music heroes, from electronic legends to experimental music icons. Every name represents modernity and leads this generation. Meet the first ones!
German giants Moderat, icon of chill Mac DeMarco, herald of the younger generation King Krule, Sleaford Mods and their fierce post punk, untraditional Black Midi guitar riffs, wild energy from Swedish Viagra Boys, the future of Britain’s rock Black Country, New Road, experimental music pro Yves Tumor & It’s Band, all-man noise-rock quartet Girl Band who became Gilla Band, indie prodigy Yellow Days and Brighton’s promising five Squid will head the spectacular line-up of the very first edition of the 8 Festival.
Emerging artists, such as Yellow Days, Billy Nomates, Westerman and Genesis Owusu are the future of music, and they all will perform live in Vilnius. Don‘t forget Sub Urban, who became the sensation of TikTok, thanks to his anthem Cradles.
You can now listen to a selection of music by the artists on the 8 Days A Week profile on Spotify. #mybloodyplaylist
The identity of the 8 Festival is reflected in its programming choices, limited capacity, brand reputation, city that is almost 700 years young and mybloodyfestival hashtag. It’s in 8 Days Week’s DNA to seek out rising talents and the best new music out there.
“8 Festival is a new festival for true music lovers. A festival that is yours now, with a lineup impossible to predict. What better place for this #mybloodyfestival experience than a century-old former prison which has been recently awarded as the Lithuanian cultural phenomenon of the year in 2021?”, - says the head of 8 Days A Week bookings Martynas Butkevičius.
A venue says a lot about a festival. 8 Festival will occupy the former historical prison area, where once restricted, today is most celebrated – freedom of all for all. A venue that showcases a whole century of Europe's history, rightly preserved, carefully reborn in a form of arts cluster. The unique setting of Lukiškės Prison 2.0 will offer a 3-day microcosm of the modern community.
“This is Vilnius. This is our life. This is who we are. Lukiškės Prison 2.0 is our home and creative playground now and one of the most incredible live performance spaces in the Baltics. Real magic happens when we get together. All the music at this festival is important – icons of today and artists of tomorrow. That is also what #mybloodyfestival is all about. Leave the ordinary, leave your problems at home. Be there, grow free, visit Vilnius, explore more music or have a damn good alibi.”
Lukiškės Prison complex was constructed in 1905. Since then, it has served as the biggest and most modern prison in the Russian Empire. It was finally closed in 2019. The notorious prison in the center of Vilnius has been reborn as the cultural hub and is inhabited by more than 350 artists. Lukiškės Prison 2.0 already became the facilitator of live music, modern art, design, and culture. It is not just a new or better version of the prison. It's a lot more.
8 Festival brings together the love for music, arts, talks, partying and rock’n’roll. #mybloodyfestival is a forward-thinking exploration of music and culture. It will offer a unique and powerful experience to connect with fans. 8 Days A Week showcases the spirit of what is happening in music each year with all the names you expect and those you haven’t even dreamed of.
