Dark cabaret stars The Tiger Lillies return to Latvia and Lithuania

The Tiger Lillies. From the circus to the cemetery: the best songs of Tiger Lillies

The godfathers of alternative cabaret The Tiger Lillies, awarded the prestigious theatre award "Olivier", are back in Latvia and Lithuania. The group will surprise listeners with a program not yet shown in the Baltic countries with the provocative title "From the circus to the cemetery: the best songs of Tiger Lillies", covering the entire period of the group's existence: from the first songs to the unexpected creations of today.

29.01. Latvia, Riga, VEF Culture Palace

30.01. Lithuania, Kaunas, VMU Great Hall

The Tiger Lillies' sound is as unique as their visual image. The creepy and comical clown faces, cauldrons, and outfits that evoke a bygone era are all trademarks of the British trio. Martin Jacques, Adrian Stout, and Jonas Goland, famous for their performances, are often described as "dark cabaret" performers. Surreal lyrics, "dirty" and "unpolished" characters, and unexpected musical twists during their performances transport the audience to a completely different world - sarcastic, ironic, but also full of dark humour.

Internationally renowned as one of the world's most famous avant-garde bands, The Tiger Lillies never cease to amaze, shock, and entertain. Their world is dark, strange, and diverse, filled with moments of deep sadness, cruel black humour and immense beauty. Their songs deal with the darker aspects of life, from prostitution and drug addiction to violence and despair. Their music is a mix of pre-war Berlin cabaret, anarchic opera, and nomadic music, echoing the musical styles of Bertolt Brecht and Jacques Brel. Without a doubt, the concerts that will showcase their entire career path will be exactly like that.

"In an ideal world, The Tiger Lillies would represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest," writes The Times.

The only way to find out if that's an accurate description of the band is to see them live.
