Born Adelmo Fornaciari on September 25, 1955, in Italy, Zucchero acquired his nickname, "Sugar," during his early musical years. He embarked on his musical journey in the 1970s and soon rose to fame. Throughout his illustrious career, Zucchero has skillfully navigated the realms of blues, gospel, soul, and rock, infusing his performances with the unmistakable spirit and passion of Italy. His music transcends borders, captivating a global audience, thanks to successful collaborations with renowned artists like Sting, Bono, Eric Clapton, Peter Gabriel, Mark Knopfler, Queen, Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, and many others. Over his career, he has received two "World Music" awards, six "IFPI Europe Platinum" awards, and a Grammy nomination. He stands out as one of the rare European blues artists still achieving remarkable international success.
Zucchero once considered singing in English but eventually decided against it. The artist has said:
“As a kid, I enjoyed The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and I’d sing their songs even if I didn’t understand a single word. But I still had fun, because music is a universal language: music alone should already be able to convey the lyrics’ inner meaning, so the overall message should be clear even if you don’t speak the language. And so I decided to keep singing in Italian.”
This choice has undoubtedly paid off as Zucchero's career stands as a testament to his enduring talent and creativity. From his early R&B bands to his chart-topping albums and unforgettable collaborations, he has left an indelible mark on the music industry. His hits, including "Senza Una Donna," "Diamante," and "Baila (Sexy Thing)," continue to resonate with audiences of all ages.
Zucchero is not only one of Italy's leading blues-rock representatives but also a global sensation, having sold over 60 million albums, including 8 million copies of "Oro, Incenso & Birra." His discography boasts numerous outstanding albums, with his latest release being "Discover" in 2021. He has graced stages on five continents, performed in 69 countries, and enchanted audiences in 628 cities, including locations such as Oman, Mauritius, Thailand, New Caledonia, Armenia, and New Zealand. Zucchero's powerful vocals and soulful melodies have touched the hearts of music lovers worldwide. The upcoming concert promises an unforgettable night filled with soul-stirring music, high-energy performances, and timeless classics, reaffirming Zucchero's status as an international music icon.
