Gogol Bordello have gained a global recognition for their extravagant stage image, energetic music and theatrical concert shows. Combining Eastern European vibe with classical punk rock, they create the wildest performance imaginable.
The band was founded in America, its leader was born in Ukraine and the rest of the group comes from Russia, Belarus, Ethiopia, Ecuador. Gogol Bordello consider punk rock as their way of life, but musically find themselves combining gypsy punk rock with metal, rap, flamenco and even reggae. Given the multiculturalism of the group and bearing in mind that the members of the band come from countries with a rather complex domestic political situation, they try to distance themselves from the chaos of the world through their music and performances and unconsciously create a space free from cultural contexts and politics, which is a home to the expressive, energetic and engaging music of Gogol Bordello.
Gogol Bordello has played thousands of concerts, released ten albums, starred in several acclaimed films and performed at major world festivals, including Coachella, Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Roskilde, Rock am Ring, Read am etc.
