Wu-Tang Clan includes RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and until his death in 2004, Ol' Dirty Bastard. Close affiliate Cappadonna later became an official member. Wu-Tang Clan became one of the most influential and successful collectives in the history of rap music.
GZA released his solo debut album, 'Words from the Genius,' back in 1991. This laid the foundation for his solo career and artistic growth. In 1995, he released his album 'Liquid Swords,' which is considered a hip-hop masterpiece worldwide and ranks among the Top 100 greatest albums in history. This platinum-certified album has become a hip-hop classic. His 1999 album 'Beneath the Surface' reached the number 1 spot on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart. He has also collaborated on solo projects with his fellow Wu-Tang members and has managed to maintain a successful solo career to this day.
GZA is considered one of the best MCs and lyricists with powerful metaphors, a steady flow, and an excellent lyrical style that often eschews typical rap storylines in favor of science and broad philosophies. Analysis of GZA's song lyrics reveals that he possesses the second-largest vocabulary in hip-hop music. GZA has collaborated with an educational group to promote science education through hip-hop in New York.
