Katrīna Gupalo and Edgars Vilcāns are set to captivate the audience with their concert series "Dzimtā valoda". The program includes beloved songs by Latvian legends such as Zigmārs Liepiņš, Haralds Sīmanis, Raimonds Pauls, Raimonds Tiguls, and Imants Kalniņš.
This fall, they will bring joy to audiences in five Latvian cities, and they will also perform in Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. The program premiered on September 3, symbolically in Edgars Vilcāns hometown of Koknese, just one day before Katrīna received Latvia's highest honour, the Three Stars Order.

Katrīna Gupalo shares:
This is perhaps the most demanding vocal program I have ever undertaken. For instance, the title song of the program, the legendary Līvi "Dzimtā Valoda," presents a vocal range challenge worthy of Freddie Mercury for any singer. On the other hand, Haralds Sīmanis "Ezers" and the trilogy from Zigmārs Liepiņš rock opera "Lāčplēsis" are emotionally charged, requiring the performer to pour their entire soul into the performance.
Audiences at Katrīna Gupalo and Edgars Vilcāns concerts will also be treated with more romantic compositions, including Raimonds Pauls masterpiece love ballad "Balta Saule," as well as Latvian and Ukrainian folk songs. Their original creations, such as the song "Dur Prom," which became a radio hit and spent 13 weeks as one of the top 10 most-played songs on nine Latvian radio stations, will also be featured. Additionally, anthemic compositions like "Resistance" and "Kamēr pret sauli kāpu," featuring Māris Čaklais poetry, will be performed.
Furthermore, Katrīna and Edgars continue their charitable initiative, "Latvian Musicians for Ukrainian Soldiers." This initiative supports the "Caucasus" volunteer battalion, predominantly composed of Ukrainian army soldiers defending Ukraine in the Donbas region since 2014. The "Caucasus" Battalion, established in 2022, operates in various war zones and requires essential supplies such as car tires, radios, drones, military uniforms, and rain ponchos to protect Ukraine.
