The first "Saldus Saule" festival took place back in 1987 with the aim of honouring the memory of the talented and legendary musician Ēriks Ķiģelis. "Saldus Saule" is the oldest still ongoing rock festival in Latvia. Though it skipped a few years, it survived and is happening again. At the festival "Saldus Saule 2010" such stars as Joe Lynn Turner and Gorky Park performed, while in 2011 - Lordi.
The previous festival, held in 2022 after a two-year pause, attracted a huge number of visitors, offering listeners the best performances of Latvian musicians and an unforgettable atmosphere.
