As summer comes to a close, Latvian artist KATŌ releases the collaborative single "Glābšanas veste" (eng. - "Life Jacket") featuring fellow music artist GACHO. Music video was released along the song.
The song serves as a tribute to family, trusted friends and colleagues. For those who don't turn their backs even if you are no longer understandable or likeable to yourself. KATŌ describes:
This is one of my most personal compositions because I discovered my weakness in it. Periodically, I live in situations where there seem to be only problems and a constant search for solutions. Most of the time, I don't want to talk about it out loud, I prefer to hide, but creating this song opened and changed something in me.
GACHO concludes the song's message:
Life gives you different scenarios, but I believe that everything is solvable. We are here to support and make each other happy. It's so nice to know you have someone to rely on.
Similar to KATŌ's previous compositions, "Glābšanas Veste" came to life in collaboration with songwriter and producer Kaspars Ansons. Ansons draws a parallel between the creative process and psychotherapy, emphasizing the importance of opening up and trusting each other. In explaining the creative process, Ansons highlights that when working on a song, the artists involved must be willing to share and trust, recounting personal experiences. Over time, their mutual cooperation has flourished, and Ansons often view KATŌ as a "Life jacket" in his creative endeavours as well.
KATŌ is a Latvian singer who achieved a successful debut in February 2019 with the release of the single "Es gāju par tālu." Within nine months, the first mini-album "Ko mani putni ēd" was also launched, earning recognition as a consistent presence in Latvian pop music. This achievement was underscored by a nomination for the "Debut of the Year" category at the Music Recording Annual Award "Zelta Mikrofons 2020." Over the years, KATŌ has secured top positions on several Latvian radio station charts.
