Latvian band Sudden Lights has just received two of the highest awards in Latvian non-academic music "Zelta mikrofons" (Golden Microphone) for the most streamed song and the best concert video, and surprises fans with a new song in English "Eastern European Dream".
Last year was very active for the band and it has encouraged to create something special for Sudden Lights foreign listeners. Recently, the band visited London with a concert, where they first performed "Eastern European Dream", which was not yet released at that time. Recently the band visited Lithuania, where the song was presented on television and in two concerts. Next stop for Sudden Lights is Estonia with two concerts as part of the Tallinn Music Week festival.
The band says:
"Eastern European Dream" encapsulates the feeling of young people living in a Baltic state. We as a society live on a constantly thin ice, we still have not been able to forget our Soviet past, we still have a fear about war breaking out in our countries. In this song, we just want to be able to live our lives, love each other and do the things we want to do without having to be afraid. American dream might be becoming rich and famous, this is the eastern european dream- we just want to be free."
