The Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its chief conductor Gintars Rinkevičs, will celebrate its 140th anniversary season finale with a live concert streaming from the Liepaja Great Amber Concert Hall (“Lielais dzintars”) on May 14th at 8.00 PM. It will be available on the “Virtual Circle” streaming platform of the prestigious music agency “HarrisonParrott”. The special concert guest will be the pianist Vestards Šimkus.
“Our holiday concert season has come at an interesting time, which leads us to brand new ways of reaching the audience. The end of this season will be special, as we are invited to stream it on a concert platform created by one of the world’s leading classical music management agencies “HarrisonParrott”. It would be a sin not to accept this agency’s offer. So let’s go forth and try to conquer the international music arena! ” says Uldis Lipskis, the leader of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra. The digital concert and art event streaming platform “Virtual Circle” was created by the experienced British agency “HarrisonParrott” last year in cooperation with “eMusic Live”. The filming itself will be performed using the digital equipment of the concert hall “Lielais dzintars”.
The Liepaja Symphony Orchestra’s 140th season finale concert will feature Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Fourth Piano Concerto and Johannes Brahms’ First Symphony.
Rachmaninov’s Fourth Piano Concerto is the least played of the composer’s piano concerts and reveals a peculiar influence of jazz and 20th century modernists in the work of this romantic composer. This concert will be even more special because of our brilliant pianist Vestards Šimkus, who will perform a very rarely performed version of this piano concert.
However, in the second part of the concert, Johannes Brahms’ First Symphony will fascinate the audience with its tragic, but at the same time royally noble sound. Although Brahms was born a symphonist in the eyes of many music lovers, he has composed only four symphonies, which are great and very different examples of the genre. The first symphony is an outstanding masterpiece, which the composer completed at the age of 43, but matured in his head for a period of 21 years. It includes serious conversations, graceful games of fate, a full range of emotions and reflections on life.
