On May 20, Latvian hip-hop musician Arturs Skutelis will give a grand concert and launch his new album "Jā" at the concert hall “Palladium Riga”. Tickets here.
The album "Jā" was recorded over the last year in several Latvian cities, with vocals recorded in Riga at the recording studio "msonic Baltic”. The album is currently in the process of editing and recording the final tracks and will be released this spring.
"The album focuses on the theme of the artist's freedom, overcoming various external circumstances, and a creative crisis. Reflections on the interaction between the musician and the music industry. In one sentence, "Jā" is a manifesto for the freedom of the artist," says the author.
On May 20, in a two-hour concert program Arturs Skutelis will perform songs from his new album "Jā" as well as songs from older, newer, and even legendary times. Special guests at the concert will be BUSH, a member of the hip-hop group "Runu Zāle", which released the critically acclaimed album "Putni" last year, and Latvian rapper Ūga, whose album "LG ir HH", released in 2020, was awarded the Latvian cultural prize "Boņuks" and "Zelta mikrofons" in the nomination "Debut of the Year". The concert will also feature a specially designed stage design, and Arturs Skutelis will be joined on stage by sound architect Dj Vinvins and several previously unannounced guests. Both the album and the grand concert will be visually designed by Emīls Kālis.

Arturs Skutelis is one of the most famous and original Latvian hip-hop musicians and lyricists, founder of the studio and creative association PKI, and leader of the live music band “Tvērumi”. He has been nominated for the Austras Award, Latvian Music Award “Zelta Mikrofons", Aleksandrs Čaks Award, and has won the Latvian Hip-Hop Award of the Year several times.
