SHIPSEA releases a new song "Great Hopes" accompanied by a deeply personal visualization. This marks the second single offering a glimpse into the upcoming album. The release of the album will be celebrated with two unique SHIPSEA concerts at the K.K. Fon Stricka villa on June 6th and 7th. Tickets here.
"Great Hopes" is a composition born a decade ago, during significant transitions in the life of musician Jānis Šipkēvics, both professionally and personally. Now, after ten years, Jānis has decided to reunite with the musicians he played with back then, to record the songs created during that time.
"It happened that in the spring of 2014, we gathered, lived together in my house, made a lot of music, swam, spent time together, and at the beginning of summer, we performed a concert in Ziemeļblāzma during the "Piens Festival," but we didn't capture anything from that time in recordings. How fortunate that at the beginning of this year, our troupe's 'comma' was removed, which will transform into 'ellipsis' in two events in June," Jānis commented on the upcoming album launch concerts.
The SHIPSEA concerts on June 6th and 7th will mark the opening of the concert season at the K.K. Fon Stricka villa - a venue that has been particularly significant for SHIPSEA's ongoing artistic endeavors.
During the concerts, songs such as "Meitene no manas klases" and "Mežaparks" will be performed, along with the recently released single "I Carry Your Heart." Also, echoing through the venue will be the best tracks from the album "Apgaismo mani," which was recognized as the Record of the Year in 2022. Joining Jānis Šipkēvics on stage will be musicians Ivars Arutjunjans, Rūdolfls Macats, Elizabeta Lāce, Lenarts Heindelss un Svens Vilsons.
