Despite the strange times, the traveling cultural festival Võnge will be taking place this summer on the 2nd and 3rd of July in the Terva Parish, Soglemegi, at the location of the future Mulgi Adventure Center. The festival venue is only 43 km from Valga and an arm’s reach away from the Latvian border. Festival tickets are available HERE.
The festival Võnge awaits its visitors with two long, idyllic summer days filled with different flavours, art, culture and, of course, the unique hustle and bustle of the festival, as well as great music. On the stages you will be able to see and hear the most relevant Estonian artists today, such as Lexsoul Dancemachine, Rita Ray, Lenna, Puuluup, YASMYN and Erki Pärnoja, as well as exciting artists from all over the world, including L’Impératrice from France, The Mauskovic Dance Band from Holland, Jay-Jay Johanson from Sweden, and Jesse Markin from Finland. Latvia at the Võnge festival will be represented by Elizabete Balčus, Reinis Jaunais and Toms Grēviņš.
“Most European festival organizers are focusing their thoughts on next summer already. There is such joy in the fact that thanks to our format, scope and flexibility we can be one of the first festivals, that will be able to bring together such exciting and pleasant international performers this soon,” excitedly says Võnge organizer Tarmo Siks.
Estonia ‘s only traveling culture festival and Kultuuri Tegu (Work in Culture) 2019 nominee Võnge will take place for the seventh time in its summer festival format. As always, visitors will also be introduced to a new venue, this year it is the upcoming Mulgi adventure center location, Soglemegi in Ala village, Terva parish.
“This is the place where within the next year Mulgi’s heritage and modern innovations will appear in a unifying adventure center. This will become one of the most important centers for Southern Estonia tourism promoters. The idea to organize a festival in Terva Parish came from the local parish council, because Võnge is considered essential for the region’s visibility and tourism promotion, it is also a great opportunity to introduce the public to the upcoming Mulgi adventure center,” Siks revealed about the behind-the-scenes of choosing the venue.
Overall, within the time span of 2 days, the Võnge festival will host more than 30 artists on two big and various smaller pop-up stages. See the full line-up HERE and schedule HERE.
Unfortunately, due to travel restrictions and other obstacles caused by the virus, these previously announced artists will not be able to perform: Kakkmaddafakka, Tora, Hang Massive, Carnival Youth, S+C+A+R+R and Coops.
Covid-19 related information for the festival visitors
From June 28 visitors to events with up to 5000 participants no longer need to be tested in Estonia. There is also no obligation to present a document of immunity or to wear a mask. The festival takes place outdoors and there will be enough space for everyone. There will also be disinfection points on site to disinfect your hands, and the logistics will be organized so that you can keep your distance from others. The festival is safe and all music lovers are welcome, but of course – if you feel ill, please stay home. Starting this week, you can travel to Estonia from all over the European Union, the European Economic Area or the Schengen countries (except Great Britain) without taking tests and without self-isolation. All you have to do is fill in THIS FORM up to 72 hours before arrival in the country. However, when returning the rules of your home country must be followed. For example, if you return to Latvia, you must perform a PCR test up to 72 hours before entering the country. This means that it would be wise to take the test just before going to Estonia, as it will still be valid when you return home after two days of the festival. Also, up to 48 hours before returning to Latvia, the questionnaire must be filled in at covidpass.lv.
