One of the biggest surprises this week has been the return of Pink Floyd. You may wonder how come it took them 28 years to write something new?! Following the awful war crimes happening in Ukraine, the band simply couldn't stay silent and felt like they need to stand up and raise money to support Ukraine. Inspired by Ukrainian protest song performed by singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the band Boombox, they wrote "Hey Hey Rise Up". 

"Hey Hey Rise Up", released in support of the people of Ukraine, sees David Gilmour and Nick Mason joined by long time Pink Floyd bass player Guy Pratt and Nitin Sawhney on keyboards, all accompanying an extraordinary vocal by Andriy Khlyvnyuk. The title of the Pink Floyd track is taken from the last line of the song which translates as "Hey, hey, rise up and rejoice". The song’s opening choral parts are by Ukrainian VERYOVKA Folk Song and Dance Ensemble.

While writing the music for the track, David Gilmour managed to speak with Andriy from his hospital bed in Kyiv where he was recovering from a mortar shrapnel injury. “I played him a little bit of the song down the phone line and he gave me his blessing. We both hope to do something together in person in the future.”

Other bands too have been dedicating their efforts to help people of Ukraine. Måneskin have joined the world's largest social media rally for refugee relief with a new song "Gasoline". 

"#StandUpForUkraine! Refugees in Ukraine and around the world need urgent humanitarian aid. We’re using our voice to demand action, and you can, too. Join us, make your own video calling for the world to support refugees and donate on: ForUkraine.com," writes Måneskin on their social media.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the Global Citizen initiative. "We need your voices to join those of artists, athletes, actors, and creators – all calling for the world to Stand Up for Ukraine by committing billions for humanitarian relief. The time is now. Let's make sure we're heard," the organization encourages participants on their website. Read more on how to join.

Very diverse and musically rich week with new releases from AURORA, Father John Misty, Oh Wonder, Passenger, Thom Yorke, Charlie Puth and Jack White.

Norwegian singer AURORA has released an ode to feminine divinity. Initially a vinyl-exclusive track on the album "The Gods We Can Touch", it's now available digitally as a single.

“It’s not always easy to find your place in this world made for men, as a woman. To find yourself. To learn that you are a source of life, of power, craft, thought and love. Not only a vessel.You do not exist for the pleasure of others, you exist for yourself. Even beyond your body, your beauty, your intellect and your accomplishments, there is a woman who is worthy of this world; believe in her," shares AURORA when talking about her latest release.

American musician Josh Tillman under the stage name Father John Misty has introduced to his fifth studio album "Chloë and the Next 20th Century". Father John Misty celebrated the release of his new album with a sold out evening at the Barbican in London, UK with The Britten Sinfonia conducted by Jules Buckley. Watch the full concert:

Here's a throwback to a captivating performance at Palladium Riga, Latvia in 2019th.

Oh Wonder, a love duo who almost broke up during the pandemic, have released their second single "Fuck It I Love You" from the upcoming album "22 Make" set to release on July 22. The break-up album "22 Brake" which was made by putting their pain, sadness and confusion into a collection of songs, will now be followed by an album celebrating love.

"We managed to survive our rocky patch, and emerge stronger than ever and full of love for each other. It only felt right therefore, to write about the other side, where you realise not just that you’re meant for each other, but also that it also takes two people to make a love flourish. We are thrilled to be releasing 22 Make, an album full of love and life-affirming songs that reflect on fate, gratitude and being there for someone," tells Oh Wonder.

Thom Yorke of Radiohead has written the second song for globally-acclaimed British TV series "Peaky Blinders" which will see it's final season this year. A beautiful instrumental piano driven piece "That’s How Horses Are” follows the "5.17" already released in March. 

For pop lovers who follow the artist Charlie Puth, his new music video for latest single "That’s Hilarious" will evoke tons of emotions. Video consist of home video footage reflecting of the time when as artist describes he was feeling like secretly dying inside.

One of the most admired guitarists of the early 21st century, Jack White, known also for being the frontman of the punk blues duo The White Stripes, has dropped a new album "Fear of the Dawn" and premiered a music video.

But Jack White doesn't stop there, he has been writing and recording music throughout the entirety of the past several years, creating two entirely distinctive albums - "Fear of the Dawn" and its follow-up "Entering heaven alive", each defined by different inspirations, different themes, different moods. Next album is set to be released on July 22.

Something to look forward to - The Rolling Stones 60th anniversary, which will be celebrated with docuseries featuring unseen footage and a loud Europe tour.

The Rolling Stones have announced tour dates, but unfortunately missing out on the Baltics. Perhaps take this in mind when planning the summer vacation. For the fans of the band another really exciting surprise will be the four-part series "My Life As A Rolling Stone" which will air on on BBC Two and iPlayer this summer. 

As stated in the press release: 'It tells the story of one of the world's greatest rock 'n' roll bands in a way that has never been done before - by viewing the band through the musical lens of each member, delving deep into their personalities, passions and memories from the past sixty years.
