The international new music festival Tallinn Music Week (TMW) is ready for the 16th edition, which takes place in the capital of Estonia on the 3rd – 7th of April. The line-up showcases 165 artists from 35 countries from Europe, North and South America, East Asia, Africa, Australia and Oceania. Notable international names include an indie-soul artist Beharie, dubbed as the "Frank Ocean of Norway", an award-winning artist and activist Madame Gandhi who has been listed as BBC 100 Women, Canadian soul star Tanika Charles and a rising Finnish pop artist Miss Molly, Dutch post-punk sensation Tramhaus and many others.
The presence of Baltic acts is mighty! Vilnius Opium Club celebrates their 15th birthday at Club HALL with the most influential Lithuanian DJ-s Manfredas and V, whilst NERDS aka North European Resonance and Dissonance Society will introduce the talent selection by the most adventurous music festivals from the Baltic and Nordic countries. Other Baltic acts include Lithuanian retro-futurists Superkoloritas and Latvian Waterflower known for creating music using plants and fungi, and many others.
Among the 70 Estonian artists are local favourites like Mari Kalkun, Duo Ruut, NOËP and Bedless Bones, all making waves also internationally, as well as new names poised to make an impact soon, such as alt-R&B artist Maria Kallastu and punk renovator Kalli Talompoika.
TMW is the leading new music and city culture festival and key networking event for music and creative industry professionals in the Nordic and Baltic regions. TMW consists of three elements: music showcase festival, conference and city festival.
The music festival takes place in various venues across Tallinn from the 4th to the 6th of April, showcasing unique talent from all over Europe and beyond in the iconic venues in the burgeoning districts of North Tallinn. The multi-genre line-up spans from experimental electronica to chart pop, from hip-hop to metal, and from folk to jazz and contemporary classical.
The conference occurs on the 5th and 6th of April in the Nordic Hotel Forum. Attended by over 1000 music industry professionals, the conference offers inspirational panel discussions, practical workshops and networking opportunities. The city festival introduces diverse neighbourhoods across Tallinn via city stage concerts in unexpected locations, art, public talks, kids’ programmes and various urban space activities.
