Sudden Lights, in collaboration with singer ANNNA, have remotely created the song “Aizņem man vietu” (ENG – “Save space for me”) which is now being released as a single. The indie and electro-pop style song is about friendship for which distance is not an obstacle.
The lyrics of the song, written by Sudden Lights vocalist Andrejs Reinis Zitmanis and ANNNA, cover a story of an imaginary train from Riga to Amsterdam. Although physically there is no such train and the opportunities to leave are limited, we can keep our loved ones close emotionally. As distance loses its meaning more and more, home can be found anywhere in the world.
ANNNA remembers: “One sunny day in October as I was walking along the canals of Amsterdam, Andrejs called me and said “We want to write a song with you. In Latvian!”. In the beginning we thought about how to do it, since I was not in Latvia, but in the end we wrote this song relatively easily through Zoom, never having even met before! ”
“If someone had told me two years ago that I would one day have to write a song online, I wouldn’t have believed it. Our new song in collaboration with ANNNA is a real “child” of the pandemic. The process of writing the song was surprisingly easy and natural, ANNNA showed me the first sketch of the song and I immediately liked it. She also performed remotely, as we recorded all our batches in Riga, while the post-processing took place in Amsterdam. Everything was done through voice messages, Zoom and the phone,” recalls Andrejs.
There is also a video version of the song, which was shot in the heart of Old Riga, capturing the characteristic tiled roofs and church towers. Video director Loreta Danče, cameraman Mārtiņš Goldbergs.
Sudden Lights also announced that the concert “Vislabāk ir tur, kur manis nav” (ENG – “It’s best there where I am not”) at Hanzas Perons that was supposed to take place on June 10 has been canceled due to uncertain circumstances. All ticket holders are invited to contact “Aula” to receive their money for the purchased tickets.
