Estonian soul/funk supergroup GRAM-OF-FUN joined forces with an acclaimed young songwriter/producer Fredi to release their latest single “LA”.
“LA” is definitely one of the slickest summer bangers from Estonia in 2020. Written & produced by Fredi aka Frederik Küüts and Gram-Of-Fun, finalizing production touches given by top-class Estonian sound wizards Ago Teppand (mixing) and Vallo Kikas (mastering).
“This song is about the thrill you have prior the first date”, explains Fredi. “When I wrote the song and did the first demo, it had a certain “LA-vibe” to it, hence the title “LA”. Since I hadn`t been singing for a while, I was pretty nervous when I sent the song to my friends in Gram-Of-Fun. I was extremely flattered when they told me they like the song and would like to finish it together. There aren`t many groups in Estonia with their drive and energy. I respect them all and I really like the end result.”, adds Fredi.
Fredi rose to fame with a boy band Beyond Beyond back in 2016, but it didn`t take long (1,5 years to be exact) before he left the group to pursue his own personal goals. While being a sought-after guitar player, he introduced himself as a songwriter at this year`s Eesti Laul song contest with his “Write About Me” (with lovely Anett on the vocals). Although being considered as underdogs, they won over the jury & audience and took home a well deserved 3rd place.
Although this is the first joint recording, it`s not the first time Fredi and Gram-Of-Fun have collaborated. Fredi joined Gram-Of-Fun onstage back in January at Estonian Music Awards.
Gram-Of-Fun is a collective of musicians, producers and DJ-s who like to experiment and work with different artists. Led by always fabulous singer/actress Kristel Aaslaid, this 6-piece is a true force of nature. Their critically acclaimed debut EP “Second Breakfast” was released in May 2019 and the lead single “Reservation” became one of the most played songs on Estonian Radio 2.
