Let me take you back to high school: you walk into a classroom and the first thing you see is a bunch of cool kids sniggering at you. They are all wearing shiny bright new Nike sneakers, while there you are in your brother’s beat-up old trainers, riddled with holes. That’s when you get that sinking feeling, when ‘things’ and ‘fitting in’ matter: that’s “SILVER SPOONS”.
The track, with the music video is a broadside against materialism, based on the singer’s own childhood experience. It’s the fourth single by the Dutch/Latvian singer, ANNNA, whose long-awaited release of her EP: “Pay Bills/Climb Hills”, is expected on November 13th at the Getting Closer Festival at De Wasserij in Rotterdam. In the last twelve months, the twenty-five-year old ANNNA has managed to not only be the warm-up act for the American singer LP, but also to perform at the Eurosonic Festival and win the Amsterdam Dance Event’s Demolition.
ANNNA is a Latvian/Dutch producer and singer from Amsterdam. Sustainability, burnouts and equality are some of the topics that she covers in her music. The singer’s career started to bloom in the summer of 2019 when her song, ‘The One That Got Away‘ became the No1 played track on one of the biggest radios in Latvia in August 2019. Also that same month, she gave an energetic performance in front of more than 8.000 people while warming up the stage for the LP Official in Latvia.
In October 2019 ANNNA won the Amsterdam Dance Event’s (ADE) Demolition with her second release, ‘Stardom/Hater‘, which landed the singer a studio experience at the W Barcelona Sound Suitetogether with Dave Clarke and the Mixmag Magazine. ANNNA’s third single, “Polyester” received viral media attention on all the biggest radios, magazines and television shows in the Netherlands. “Polyester” is an iconic pop piece that covers the realities behind the Fast Fashion industry.
In January 2020, ANNNA played a killer show at the ESNS 2020 Festival, where she showcased her newest tracks from the singer’s upcoming EP that’s aimed to be released in the autumn of 2020.
Due to the current crisis, the singer’s long-awaited summer festival tour has unfortunately been cancelled. However, soon, we will hopefully be able to see ANNNA back on stage, where she will be joined by the biggest Dutch upcoming artist tour, ‘Popronde’ as one of the OOR music magazine’s talents.
