Lithuanian band ba. goes international with a whole bunch of announcements: new music, an album out in autumn, a concert of the decade and they’ve just signed with Sony Music.
Single "ŠOKIS" is not just a new song with an accompanying video. It also heralds the bands upcoming album. Scheduled for release in autumn, it is their first release with the global record label Sony Music Entertainment.
According to Benas Aleksandravičius, the frontman of "ba.", the idea for the video was born even before the song itself: "I was on a trolleybus, watching various walls of the city and I saw a vision that came to life in the clip. When I returned to the studio, I wrote the lyrics that added to the clips images. The song is indeed very multi-layered."
The video for “ŠOKIS” is also Ben's directorial debut. "Although the clip itself is simple, it’s very personal to me. The whole process was fast but impactful," says Benas.
The new ba. album is inspired by the sea, relationships, storms and gritty sounds. It will be out this fall, and the album's creative team is stronger than ever. For the first time, the band joined forces with producer, and composer Domas Strupinskas.
The band have recently signed a contract with Sony Music Entertainment. "ŠOKIS" is the first Lithuanian single released under the name of the global record company.
According to Kaisu Pulli, the representative of Sony Music Entertainment in the Baltic States and Finland, the company "We've been following ba.'s career for some time now, and despite the young age of the band members, ba. has already achieved so much in Lithuania. "ba." has their unique style and vision and knows their audience exceptionally well. We warmly welcome ba. to our Sony Music family and are excited to be a part of this next chapter."
The opportunity to celebrate doesn't end there. On June 11th "ba." will throw their biggest concert to date in Vingis Park, Vilnius. "We will play as many as thirty tracks. It will be the longest concert we've played in all ten years. We want it to go down in history as our best show yet, celebrating our decade as a band, and I have no doubt that we will succeed," says Benas.
Benas Aleksandravičius, the singer, songwriter and driving force behind this band (it's named after his initials, if you haven't guessed already) is one of those jaw-dropping success stories – he broke through in 2013, a couple of months later he was getting hundreds of thousands of YouTube views – all at tender age of 16 and without any record label backing or conventional promotion. Somehow this indie rock singer managed to capture the hearts and minds of the young internet generation. Next, the band will celebrate their tenth anniversary.
