Until now, known for his powerful rock songs and fiery performances Miks Galvanovskis released the song "Par savu zemi saukt" (eng. - "To Call Your Land") which blends not only rock and electric guitar virtuosity but also reflects the national code, which is evident in both the sounds of bagpipes and the coke.
The music video for "Par savu zemi saukt" showcases Latvian values, talents, and traditions. It begins with baking a loaf of traditional Latvian bread, moves on to crafting jewellery, and culminates in a festive table and dance culture. In this video, we witness the importance of being together within the family circle and the unbreakable spirit of our support.
The creative team behind this video includes director Rihards Romušs, cinematographer Elvis Lācis, lighting designer Artūrs Feldmanis, and producer Lāsma Neulāne. The video was created in collaboration with "Baltu Rotas," who adorned every actor in the video, and the Riga School of Arts and Media Technology, where the filming took place.
Miks shares:
I wrote the lyrics on a warm June evening, and they almost came to me as if by themselves. I was still in a sort of patriotic ecstasy after the recent hockey championship, and it just poured out onto the paper. In each verse, I reflect on one of the close Latvian values. But I chose the first line of the song as the main motif - "To Call Your Land" because, in my eyes, this phrase means the most and encompasses all the feelings, language, traditions, and everything that makes me feel connected to Latvia.
The song was created in collaboration with the producer Reinis Briģis, with whom Miks has been working for years and has released dozens of songs, but they joined forces for the first time on a patriotic project. Several musicians participated in the recording, including Edgars Lipors and Dzintars Lipors, who played the coke and bagpipes. It's also noteworthy that these instruments had never been recorded in the studio before.
This isn't Miks's first patriotic project, as several years ago, he initiated the Jauno mūziķu apvienība project, which recorded the song "Div’ Dūjiņas gaisā skrēja", achieving more than 850,000 views on YouTube.
