Musiqq has released a mini-album "Bijis, Ir un Būs" inspired by the songs of the legendary Latvian band Līvi and to celebrate the release of the new album, the band invites you to a fantastic concert on February 14th at the Palladium concert hall in Riga. The band will be performing their most popular songs, as well as compositions from the mini-album. Tickets here.
This is Musiqq's sixth studio album, but the first to be an arrangement of well-known and popular songs. The album was also produced by guitarist Uldis Beitiņš and saxophonist Alex Balinskis. The mini-album includes seven original compositions inspired by the most popular and best-loved tracks of the legendary Latvian band Līvi. The first song from the upcoming mini-album was released in October 2022 and is an unusual synergy with the well-known and popularly loved band’s Līvi song “Zīlīte”.
"In fact, you could say that it will be a combination of two bands' original songs - ours and Līvi. The compositions will include the well-known motifs and melodies of the Līvi songs, which we will have dressed up in a modern arrangement with the characteristic sound of Musiqq, supplemented with rap elements, etc. I think the result is really interesting and we hope that the listeners will appreciate our work," says Emīls Balceris, a member of Musiqq.
The idea for the album originated during 2021, when there were strict restrictions because of the pandemic and musical activity was limited.
"Our most observant fans and followers must have noticed that we have been sharing videos on our TikTok profile for a long time, where we experiment with different Latvian songs, fusing them with our ideas, since the beginning of the pandemic. The process was exciting for us, so we decided to turn it into a tangible result. It is said that the people of Liepaja are wind-hardened and never stop at what they have achieved. That is why new ideas are constantly pushing us forward and inspiring us to create something unprecedented " Musiqq member Marats Ogļezņevs says.
In December 2022, another single, "Ar Tevi Kopā," was released. It is a song about the power of love and those on their way to another.
